    On an 88 OMC 3L GM with a 2bbl Rochester carb, where do you connect a vacuum gauge? Is there a port with a screw-out plug on the carb base somewhere or do you connect it elsewhere?

    Am I correct in saying that if I wanted to check the transom shift cable for binding all I do is disconnect it from the shift lever and push/pull while someone rotates the prop? (It's the red version ... whew!) <br />I measured the magic 7-5/8" length and got 7-3/8" so it probably needs...

    overheating in Cobra 3L

    Might be opening a can of worms with this question but... what temperature should an 88 Cobra 3L run? Mine runs steady at around 180. If this is too hot what should be checked to correct it? I've seen in other threads to check impeller, thermostat, belts, riser, etc. Any one more likely...

    no spark on OMC 3L

    Finally got to dewinterize the engine this weekend. Went to replace the points, condenser, rotor etc, but all looked to be in great shape (mistake?) so I left them alone.     tilt/trim sender

    I have a pre-owned 88 4 winns 16' with an OMC Cobra i/o. All the illustrated parts lists I've seen and the Clymer shop manual (and the wiring diag in the 4 winns owners manual) all show a tilt/trim sender and gauge, though the boat doesn't have the gauge!?!<br />Was this an option? There isn't...

    replacing alternator belt on 88 OMC 3L

    How do you replace the alternator belt on an 88 OMC 3L? Looks like the forward motor mount has to be disconnected (??) as the belt loops around it. Any tricks of the trade here?
