Motor comes up out of water

Re: Motor comes up out of water I would have to trim top of transom to lower motor. Not against that, but would like to try something else, first. The only thing up front are fenders, and vests, so no real weight to transfer. I was by myself in the boat when it did it.

Motor comes up out of water

FINALLY got to go out on my new to me toon. Beautiful trip on High Rock Lake. I noticed on a couple of occasions after cruising at a higher speed, RPMs raced up, and prop was fighting for water. Lake was pretty much smooth at the time; no wakes. I would back off, and engine would bite, and I...

Increase trailer tongue weight on trailer

Re: Increase trailer tongue weight on trailer If you don't like the weather in NC this time of year, wait awhile, and it will change! Sun popped out, and here are some pics

We all do dumb things, don't we?

:facepalm:Did I just do a boneheaded thing? Took my pontoon to the lake to leave it at a friend's dock to work trailer bunks, and fix tongue weight. As I backed off the trailer, I came suspiciously close to the dock, and steered away. So I thought. Turns out left is right, and right is left...

Increase trailer tongue weight on trailer

Re: Increase trailer tongue weight on trailer I think I can use that formula. The distance from the axle to the back support is about 89". Think I have alot of weight back there I can bring forward. You can't see it, but the closest point of the engine is about 8" from the back support. Notice...

Increase trailer tongue weight on trailer

I have a fully adjustable EZ Lift trailer that was almost exactly balanced with pontoon by previous owner. No problems, yet, but it hasn't made many trips, except to my place, and the welder. I plan to dock it a couple of days and replace bunks, and adjust axle back to put 100#, or so on...

    Pontoon Cover Failure!

In our part of NC, we usually get a polite snowfall, maybe a couple of times a season. This time, of course, is an exception. Between the 4" of snow, and the sleet and ice piled on, the cute little aluminum supports, holding up the cover collapsed. What have those that have the "teepee" type...

    Add-on Tilt and Trim

I have just bought a 1987 20' Sweetwater pontoon with 60 HP Evinrude. Through a separate purchase a few years ago, I have a Minn-Kota tilt and trim. Is there any real advantage to putting this on my pontoon? It would push my motor 5-7" back, and I probably would have to replace my steering...

Wooden Seat Bases on Pontoon Deck

I just bought a new to me pontoon in really great shape for a 1987 Sweetwater. What I want to do is slightly raise the seats, and console off the floor so water will flow under, and through, without bases absorbing the water, and rotting. What would be some ideas to solve this? Thanks, for any...

    Boating Tool Box

If you were to want to have tools on board a small, inland water boat, just to have available for repairs/problems that could be done while floating, away from shoreline, what would you have? There, of course, would be the option of flailing your arms, jumping up and down, and screaming at the...

    FRP vs. Fiberglass

From what is have read on other sites, MFG was one of first companies to use FRP, or, Fiber Reinforced Plastic. It is a compressed, moulded product, verus an process layed down on wood, or a form. My question is this. Does this have the same, end result, or is one structurally stronger than...
