Bear with me, trying to learn here... As I'm looking at various used boats for sale I'm obviously considering the power. Four stroke?...got it. Two strokes?...I thought I had it. I (incorrectly?) assumed that there were two types of two strokes; carbed and DI but two vessels for sale had...

    S hook clips?

Anyone know what those things are called that you attach to an S hook that closes them so they help prevent them from popping off? I think they're rubber or plastic. I know I've seen them and for the life of me I can't find them searching the net. I'm ordering some stuff from iboats and want...

USCG Aux safety inspection sticker placement?

Got a little heck at the local boat ramp yesterday cause we had our USCG Aux safety inspection sticker on starboard side of our windshield - gentleman said it's supposed to be on port, that's where "officials" will look for it. In talking to him further it seems like this may be a water to...

    flush help

:mad:ok, so i was in a hurry and after reading somewhere on the net (came from a proclaimed yama tech) that you can flush your motor out with the hose attachment while the motor is running at idle as long as there's enough h2o pressure to make it pee, i did. i know, i know, but i did. ran for...

    newb owner recommended book

I'm half-way through reading "Powerboat Handling Illustrated" by Bob Sweet and it's very good. I highly recommend it for anyone new to boating. Other than Chapman's Seamanship (which I have for reference) it's one of the best I've read.

I need to add two places to hang boat bumpers mid ship and right now there's nothing there but hull. Not really worth adding ss cleats for. Thought about those lever-type suction cups for bathroom shower stalls and bought a few cheapies but they just aren't quite strong enough. Is there...

    Guide-on help/advice please

Looking to add guide-ons to my bunk trailer. 18' glass boat weighing in 3300 lbs or so. Pole guide-ons seem to give you the additional sight advantage where you can see them as you're maneuvering but looking at them in catalogs and sites they sure don't seem like they'd be very strong or...
