    1994 200 johnson electrial voltage

I can't seem to get away from electrical issues with this engine. A new Etec isn't far away i'm afraid. but for now here is my issue i could use some help with. Engine has new flywheel (magnets had de-magnetized...possilbe nearby lighting they said), a new power pack, and a new rectifier...

    Rectifier cuts out

Hi all, I have a 1994 200 oceanrunner that recently had a new flywheel, powerpack, and rectifier installed. I was having a low voltage/no charge situation and the mechanic said the magnets had de-magnetized and the powerpack was shot. Apparently this burned up the rectifier. It runs great...

    Neutral safety switch problem

I'm replacing this in my 1994 200 johnson today. I don't have any continuity between the Solenoid post on the ignition switch and the small post on the solenoid, so for $16, I have to open up the remote control to test it anyways. My question is...the engine has been very hard starting and...

    1994 200 starting problem

Been awhile, which is good news I guess. The engine has been hard to start, but eventually got it going, and would start great once warmed. Today it would not fire, I was was about to start checking for spark. Then it quit turning over. I verified the starter was good by jumping the...

    200 Oceanrunner not charging

Still having problems with a 1994 200 that only puts out between 12.6 to 13.0 volts, usually dropping throughout the trip. It can drop under 12 with a lot of trolling. I have replaced the R/R in the past, diagnosed easily from the intermittent tach, but tach works fine now. Will try to...

    1994 Johnson 200 voltage

I was test running the boat after the mechanic tuned it up had the powerhead off to replace a motor mount. In the past few weeks the voltage had been low..12.8 or so at 4500rpm as well as idle. The rectifier is only 2 years old, no tach problems, and it was maintaining above 12 volts so I let...

    95 Johnson 200 won't idle

My 1995 Oceanrunner 200 would occassionally stall out while idling, but it's getting worse. I changed the plugs and its worse (same plugs QL78YC). The old plugs were not fouled. A mechanic last year installed 133 degree thermostats and this seems too cool. At cruise, I run 160 degrees per...

    200 Ocean Runner Fuel Pump

This has been an ongoing saga, but its narrowed down so I thought I'd start a new topic. I found quite a bit of crud in my newer fuel/water separator filter so I changed filters. After nearly 3 hours of solid running at 4500 to 5000 I thought she was fixed. Then the alarm started...

    1994 johnson 200 another problem

Many more weekends like these and I'll be buying a Yamaha, but lets see if I can keep it going awhile longer. Waterpump, stats, rectifier are all new, and the heads inside are clean. Also I have removed the ball bearing check valve at the tank outlet. We ran 15 miles out, trolled at 6 knots...

    1994 johnson 200 overheat

I've learned a lot about these motors, mostly here but quite a bit from the manual. This one has me stumped. She ran fine on the way out, trolling she did good, that was about 3 hours of running straight. We turned to come in and made it 3 miles closer to shore and the overheat alarm started...

    Lowrance fuel flow monitor

I just picked up the new Boaters World catalog and found that fuel management systems have gotten much cheaper this year. Navman and Lowrance are now offering independent gauges or they can link in directly to some plotters/ff etc. I am looking at the Lowrance gauge but can not find any info...

    Oceanrunner 200

Operating temperature seems to be a fairly hot topic, (no pun intended) but I'd like to get some feedback for my specific engine. It is a 1994 Oceanrunner 200 and my cruise is about 4800 rpms. At this speed she is about 150-160 degrees. Its a little odd, but I'll run out and it will be a...

    Warning alarm horn

Motor is a 1994 Johnson Oceanrunner and fairly new to me. The warning horn does not function as is should, at least a start up. (Hasn't overheated to test the other functions-per temp. gauges). I've read other posts and assumed a radioshack piezo will not work in its place. It is the type...

    1994 Pro Line 231 wood

I have just bought this boat and can't wait to get rid of that little Whaler. The boat is in great shape (bought from a friend) and I have read alot about Pro Line materials and construction. I guess in 1995 they stopped using wood all together, but what was the construction before then? Was...

    Bennett trim tabs

The old Whaler has seen its final voyage and I have just purchased a 95 pro line with bennetts and have run into a little trouble. I have checked everything on the Bennett website and have eliminated the helm switch as a problem. Every motion of the switch causes the motor to click but not...

    starter hesitation

I have a 1990 Johnson 115 and it has a distinct hesitation when the key is turned. The battery is new and fully charged, i tested the starter off the motor with cables and its fine. I have checked every connection to and from the starter. I have correct voltage at the starter. Like i said...

    1990 Johnson 115 startor/solenoid

Brand new battery, still starts slow. Shaft on starter spinds freely, motor is fine, not seized or low lubrication. With a multi-meter, what voltages should i see at the starter and at the solenoid, or will they be the same? If i read 11-13V or so, does that mean the starter is definitely...

    Fuel Leak

I have a 1992 Johnson 115, VRO disconnected and it runs great. Except that when i idle it in the driveway for a few minutes and then shut off the engine, i get a fuel/oil slick down the side of the motor. with the spiderweb of parts around the carbs i cant tell where it is coming from but it...

    Johnson water temperature

Other than using a surface mount temp sender for a teleflex gauge is there any place on a 1991 Johnson 115 VRO to insert a sender into the water jacket of the engine. from what i understand the block or head mounted senders are relatively inaccurate.
