    Correct rectifier part number

I have a 1998 115 HP Johnson J115TSLECM. My tach is operating for a short time, then it goes to zero. After a while, the tach will work again. I checked the voltage on my battery with a digital volt meter while the tach was operating properly and the battery was climbing in voltage. As soon as...

    Tachometer goes on and off

I have a 1998 115 HP Johnson. My tach usually starts reading immediately after starting, then goes off after about 3 minutes. I took it out of the dash and put new connections on the two wires (I guess + and -), I pulled the plug-in with the 6 (?) wires out and reinstalled, then I went to the...

    1997 115 HP Tohatsu

I need some opinions on the larger 2 stroke Tohatsu engines. I saw a boat (1997 model) for sale with a 115 HP Tohatsu on it. I know nothing about them and cannot find any reviews on the web. Thanks for any advice.

    125 Merc. losing RPM's

I recently purchased a 2001 125 HP Merc ELPTO that runs pretty well. However, when I put it on a flush, the motor sounds irratic. If I am at 1200, it will run for a while then pop, and the rpms drop to about 600, then goes up to 12 again. If I run it to 2200 rpms, it'll pop and drop to about...

    Upgrading trolling motor

I have a 12V 55# thrust TM and upgrading either to a 80# 24v motor or maybe a 101# 36V TM motor. I know I will need to change the female plug on the bow but will I have to change the wiring also? Would the 24 or 36 require heavier wiring than the 12v system provides? I don't know what size...

Hooking up 2 batteries in parallel

Will hooking up 2 new 12v batteries in parallel extend the usage time of my 12volt (55#) trolling motor, or would I get more efficiency by using them one at a time?

    2003 Yami 4 stroke

I am deciding between a boat with a 2003 Yami 4, or a 2001 Merc 2 stroke. I have never owned a 4 stroke. What is the comparison in maintenance and reliability? Thanks for the help and quick reply. I am purchasing this week.

    2001 70HP Suzuki 4 stroke

I am considering buying a boat with this motor. Does this motor have a good history of dependability? How many hours per year is average for a 4 stroke? I don't know anything about 4's. Could someone give me some advice? I have owned 7 boats, but never a 4 stroke (or a Suzuki). Thanks

    110 Evinrude shift linkage

I previously asked this question and am still befuddled. On a 1989 110 Evinrude, how do I remove the pin from the shift rod so I can drop my lower unit?? I ordered a manual. The cd says "60-235hp; 1974-1991", but the 110 is not listed in the manual. Do I have to remove a carb, starter...

    Jerkalip

I have a 1988 110 HP Evinrude that I need to replace the lower unit. At the top of the shift rod, it looks like a smooth pin holding it on. I see no keepers or screw/bolt heads to remove it. How do I release the shift rod and how do I get to it. Do I need to remove the bottom carb? Thanks

    110 Evinrude shift rod connection

I have a 1988 110 HP Evinrude that I need to replace the lower unit. The top of the shift rod looks like it has a pin in it with no apparent way to remove it. I see no keepers on it, just a smooth pin holding the shift rod on. How do I get it out and how do I get to it? Thanks, I'm kinda desparate!
