What uses more fuel on plane, or hull speed?

Suppose you are low on fuel and were trying to get back to the dock. What would burn more fuel, keeping the boat on plane but going slow enough to keep the rpms down, or putting along at hull speed? I have heard that displacement hulls, like trawlers are more efficient than planning hulls like...

This trailer roller setup doesn't look right

I've bought a 19' Invader bowrider, and the trailer needs some work. I've never owned a roller trailer but this setup doesn't look right. There are 12 large rollers total. 8 at the rear, and 4 closer to the front. Is this enough to support the boat? There are no indentations or damage to the...

Has anybody out there ever rebuilt an Evinrude / Johnson electric shift gearcase? I have a 1966 Evinrude Lark 40hp. The gearcase leaks water, so I have to change the oil everytime I take it out. My reverse slips, it's works not too bad when I first put it in the water, but by the end of the day...

My engine swallowed a choke plate screw. Am I ok?

It's a 1966 Evinrude Lark. I'm getting it ready for the season and I notice this  I replaced the one remaining scew with two brand new stainless cap screws, and some locktight. I ran the engine idleing in a bucket for a wile and it seemed to run fine. I'm guessing it swallowed the screw...

Bass Pro Shops Prowler 55 - What prop?

I have a Bass Pro Shop prowler 55lb trolling motor and I've damaged the prop. When I bought it I was told by the person at the store that it was made by Motorguid. It looks a lot like a motorguide, so I was wondering if a Motorguid prop will fit (They stock those everywhere). Any ideas?

    1966 Evinrude Lark starting problems

I have a 1966 Evinrude Lark 40hp that once started runs, and idles well. To start it though I need to squirt a bit of fuel in the carburator. If I do that it starts right up. If I don't it will not start, and choking it does not help. If the engine has been running and I shut it down, I can re...
