    Electric tranny troubles

Have a '72 65hp Evinrude with electric shift that won't shift out of forward on the muffs or in the water. Checked voltages and they appear good when buttons are pressed. 0V forward, 12V neutral and 12V+12V reverse. Checked lower unit fluid, its OK and type C. No grinding of gears when any...

    Hot Wings

Hey, how 'bout it? You Yanks ready to send some of your areobatic hot winged dove down this way yet? Had a couple cool fronts move through over the past few weeks and our local population has thinned considerably. I usually keep track of the weather up there this time of year but I've not had...

    Moving right along

OK guys, you've brought me a long ways on this old boat. Time for another coaching session: Installed a universal OMC tach. Boat had been rewired so nearly all wires under dash are red. Previous owner had also replaced control box so all wires (except grey) were spliced near control box. The...

Don't break your fuel pump, there are consequences

I'm trying to sort out fuel pumps for an Evinrude 65273S. According to the BRP drawings I should have a 0385784 which crosses to a 438559. Again, according to BRP drawing the top screw threads into the body. Had my pump rebuilt and the one I got back has a through the body mounting screw on the...

    Just plain ole Curious

Not interested in stirring up forgotten debates. No need to reason or justify responses (there-in lies the challange). Just plain old fashioned curiosity: What brand of 2 cycle outboard engine do you have? What brand of oil do you use in it? Evinrude/Super Tech

    What's the diff?

Been looking at tilt motor/pump pkgs. Some are 2 wire some 3 wire. A picture of a 3 wire showed two of the wires to a common lug. Was the picture wrong or is there a real difference?

    Prestolite parts question

Anyone have any ideas on where I could find replacement parts/info for a Prestolite HYA5010 tilt package. Or maybe what I could get that would be a direct replacement that wouldn't cost more than I paid for the boat/motor? It's for a 1972 65hp Evinrude (65273S).

    Need tach to continue

Bought a used boat/motor and have been following along hitting high points on FAQs and postings relating to isssues I encountered. Tons of valuable info available on this site, very helpful! Went out to the lake yesterday. Starts and runs smooth and cool. Ran it out to 21.8 MPH on GPS, seems...

    Not topping out

Yeehaw! Got my shop manual today. Replaced fuel line from pump to carb (it was wet with fuel around the end at carb) and main fuel line to filter (it was cracked at the filter end). Gonna run it on 50:1 instead of 40:1 tomorrow. What can I say about the mix? One of those stupid human things...

    Hey!(Cover removal)

You guys are too much! Been reading for a few days and couldn't resist jumping in after stumbling across the 'stupid......' posts. What a ton of laughs! Found this place looking for info on a project boat I just purchased. It's a 19?? Lonestar with a 1972 65hp Evinrude Triumph. And oh joy, it...
