When my dad was into cruisers, (32ft to 42ft), the first thing he did was have a look in the bilge, if it was a mess, and dirty, he walked. Back when he had his last boat was a 38ft Chris, mid 60s,...
The filter is an, water separator, no oil, is separated.
Simple Green, spray it around good, then spray with water, repeat if you have to. If you have real bad places, you can hose clamp a brush to a pole, and scrub it in.
I use a 3gal fuel tank on small boats like that. Alot easier to handle.
That boat with a 9.9hp, plus 200lb person, and 6 gal fuel, plus gear, and maybe another 200lb person in the bow area. Thats about it. I would also try, and put the fuel tank in the middle. You can...
Looks like about 1987 to 1989 Capri. I have had a few, and the side windows, say 87-89. Looks like an OMC outdrive. If no paper work, sometimes, depending on state you live in, could be a "Yard...
From what I see in the pic, your AV plate is about 1/2" below the bottom of the boat. I would do as suggested, and bring the motor up 1 1/2". Most are setup 1" above to start. Alot of good info, on...
My older style live well, drains into the bilge, and the bilge pump, will pump it out. My pump is mounted to the inside bottom of the transom, and the pump shouldnt let water through until it runs. I...
That clamp in the middle, may be or have crashed the tube, not alot of clearance in them. I would try and unbolt it, see if the steering frees up.
I dont know your boat, or the weight of it. But if its rated at 140HP max, a 50HP will not do you any good. You dont want to go smaller then 70 to 75% of max HP.
I dont know yamies, but I found that when that happened to my Johnny, the t-stats were not opening.
Welcome, first, does the motor move freely with the cable disconected? If yes, then if a rack doesnt fit, look at getting a rotory system. They dont take up the room side to side, and work good too.
Ok, the guy came in today at work, to check our systems. He told me as of 2007, all production of halon has stopped. The military is trying to stock pile it. And you can still get a bottle refilled...
And not to be confussed with, RED, "RIGHT", RETURN.
I have been Drag Racing for over 25 years, and boats are nothing like race cars. Your race car is built to pull the motor, trans, and rear, in about 1/2hr or less. Boats, sometimes not, alot of...
Looks like the boat show bug bit you big time. I like the color, hope you have a great summer of boating. Put a small scrach somewhere now, it might help, after the first opps, sh-t, why did I do...
I would move this to the restore section. You should then ask questions, your question now is pretty general, and open. What are your concerns now. BTW, welcome to IBoats
This looks like a worth while boat. The motor and trailer, are worth the asking price. the boat is older but, looks good shape.
17ft sea nymph
My vote is braided SS lines, Any speed shop would make them up, with ends.
I run about 37mph with a 1987 90hp, on a glass 16ft loaded, with two people. Thats propped with a 17p. I think your doing good with that motor. First thing I would do is, loose the whale tale. But I...
I agree on the 8" finders, also if the boat doesnt have midship cleats, and extra cleats for the finders. The pop-up type are nice, but takes a little more to install.
I was never told they were refilled with a sub, and the bottles, still read HALON. We have our systems at work checked every 6 months, I can call them and ask.
Yep a brass threaded plug for sure, I vote for the crowfoot, if that doesnt work, then try the slotted socket tip. If you break the T off, you can go back with a 12 pt socket, with the T off, you...
I sold a bayliner W/S in pieces, and got about $300 after I sold all of them, sides, and front three. It was a 1989 with the long sides.
I have a halon system on the race car, and we use halon systems, on our wire, and sinker, EDMS at work. I had a small fire two years ago under the hood of the race car, and the halon worked great,...
I trim my OB motor, once im on plane, never really pay any antention to the gage. They are set to best performance. Trim tabs I would think would be set to the performance also. But trimming them...
Two 1000 gph pumps min, in my opinon. And to MH Hawker, the name of my boat is "EMPTY POCKETS". Toys have a way of doing just that.
As the others have said, drain plug hole. The trailer should be tilted up at the bow, to drain, and stern drive down.
Angle tips look better, but I like watching the flappers too, go figure.
I would agree^^^^, What he said,^^^^
See if you can collect some in a shot glass, or small clear glass, and then look for seperation. If your bilge is dirty, it will be hard to find a leak, if you have one. Sometimes also if the cover...
I have to agree, about BRAKES! Hope they work well on the trailer.
After looking at your pics, they are ajustable in and out. There are bolts that hold them on the trailer frame, looks like they can be unbolted, and moved in or out.
Look up the reg numbers that you put on.
Most times the intake pump will be within a foot or so of the intake on the bottom of the transom. Also you may have to tear up a part of the floor to gain access. Welcome to IBoats.
I'm offen out at night, and use a hand held, never on for more then 10 sec to look for markers, and the reflective makers are easy to find. I also use a GPS, and mark spot just inside, inbetween, and...
Now, this is just my opinon, to start, it doesn't look to be a marine block to start with. the freeze plugs are rusty, so i would think there not brass, a marine bock would have had brass plugs in...
Most motors are not shipped with a prop. It depends on the type of boat the motor will go on.
I hope the OP doesn't own, or have access to any guns.
Seems a bit odd to me as well, I have been told to ALWAYS fuse, and or switch the positve, or hot leg. But Im a Toolmaker, not a Electrician.
I would think a call, or email to Clarion would be in order.
Also, even though I think there good drives, there out of business. Omc Cobra, or King Cobra drives. Harder to find parts for, and to get serviced.
Boat owners manuals are pretty much useless, most items on the boat are made by other companys anyways. You will need a Factory Service manual for the motor, and drive though, and im sure they can be...
I use the same style, and never had any issues, with many differant sizes. How much larger is it? They do make the paddle lock style in differant sizes also.
You knew that when you were paying for the registration, that the boat was not in your name. Instead of just taking the stort cut then, you, and your dad should of taken care of it then. Now it will...
Does the trim switch work at the motor? If it does, you will have to remove the bow switch, and check that the connections are there and clean, and check that the switch is in working order. You may...
JoLin, it was my opinon. I did a little reading, and found this. So I reckon you are wrong too.
Runabout (boat) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Where did the 2x4 idea come from? The transducer, should be mounted to the boat, as per instuctions. Are you trying to make it portable, for more then one boat?
Bayliner made there bed, and forever will have to sleep in it. I have owned mid 80s bayliners (in good shape), and liked them. The newer SeaRays that I have seen at boat shows, dont seem to me, (my...
And the opinons begin. I have to agree with Don on this one, but not the boat shown in the picture. Runabout, is an older term to classify a boat, Bowrider is a newer term. A Runabout to me, is an...
