Default 98 seadoo gts oil leak

i took the ski to a marine repair shop and they told me that i had a seized crankshaft. they quoted me 1900 to fix it. i refused to pay that much and brought it home and started taking it apart. i pulled the engine and laid it on the floor and hooked up my battery charger to the starter. i can turn over the motor with no prob. the issue i have is that when i continue to put a compression tester on one cylinder it will not turn over normally. it will always turn over without the tester. i need some help there. also, there was a lot of oil under the engine puddled all over. so, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your battery charger will not suppply enough amps to turn over your starter with the compression tester in there. Hook it up to a freshly charged battery, and try it in order to get an accurate compression check.

You motor has no load on it when the plugs are removed. Try compressing an empty 2 liter bottle with the top on. Same principle.

A compression check won't tell you if you have a bad crank bearing,, you can check the connecting rod play to see if the rod and wrist pin bearings are sloppy though.
rotate the engine by hand with the plugs out , bring the piston just past top dead center, when you see the piston start to go downward, stop and use a screwdriver through the spark plug hole to push on the top of the piston, if you hear the piston clunk, or feel it in the screwdriver, you have excessive play in the bearings on that rod.
I once thought having a 6 figure income would be great,, now I have a 6 figure income TAX , wats up with that!!
