Default 89 Seadoo PWC won't start

    Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am not sure if I am in the right place. I have a 1989 Seadoo Bombardier which ran fine on the water until it stopped. It never started again. I changed spark plugs and still does not start. It has spark, compression, might have fuel issue. It will cough once, and that's it. Any sugestions? Thank you

Pull the plugs and put in about a teaspoon of fuel into each cylinder and try to start it. It should fire right up. If it does, def a fuel issue. I'm guessing the carbs need to be rebuilt, the fuel lines, and fuel water seperator need to be replaced and the fuel petcock needs to be cleaned or replaced. Ethanol does not like the fuel lines you have and causes them to break up and clog the fuel system.

No problem. If I recall, that ski has the round mikuni carbs. If that is the case, you're honestly better off upgrading to a square body one. The round ones suck, to put it honestly.

Let me know if it fires right up on with the fuel in the cylinders and we'll go from there.

Tried that and nothing I also cut 1/4" of the wires, and still nothing. It sounds like almost wants to start, but it doesn't.

Have you done a compression check?

sounds like it has weak spark then. Possibly the coil. Are there any blown fuses?

How to test the coil? I might have a bad coil, but I have spark, so I don't know if it is the coil. Thnks everyone

Here's a link to the 1990 Sea Doo shop manual (can't find the 89). It should be similar enough for you to figure out testing procedures, etc.
