1997 Seadoo Challenger (Water coming in)

I got a 1997 Seadoo Challager with a single110hp rotex. I am having trouble with water coming in the boat around the engine? I did fill the boat up with water and tryed to see where it maybe leaking from. no sinds of leaks that way. The water seams to only come in when i am out playing around like pulling a tube or skies or if i an out going fast then slowing down fast and just goofing around. But if i get up to speed and stay there and then just slow down and sit out and go swiming. Not mush water at allAny. ideas.

the normal places to look are the driveshaft seal and boot and the exhaust hoses or the coling system hoses

ok the cooling system hoses are fine. The drivesdhaft seal looks ok. But how hard is it sapot to be to move off the steal ring. I can puch the black ring back really ez. The exhast boot looks ok but i am going to replace it. is the hard?

Can I change the driveshaft seal and boot my self?

if it isn't leaking why change it? when you put the boat in the water place your hand under the carbon seal and see if water is dripping , if it is then change it I have seen the hose clamp fall off the carbon seal and allow water to leak in I have seen motor mounts break and allow the engine to jump up and crack the seal, replacing the seal isn't hard if you know the sequence and the trick to doing it.

also look at the rear hatch gasket , you may be getting back splash leaking in through a bad gasket

I went out yesterday all day and no water at all. The lake was flat not a wave. I went out today. It was not flat at all. We had fun but the water still came in. So i think it may be the morter mounts. How do you or how can you see if the moter mounts are broken?

usually the right rear and front mounts are the ones that break, lift up on the motor and see if it moves or seperates, if the right rear is broken when you pull the engine from the side you will see the mount pull apart, the top plate usually is what comes loose, they are all easy to replace on that engine

Ive seen some sea doos that ONLY leak when the boat is under power from the shaft seal.

Some had a rubber oring holding the stainless part of the seal and it would not hold it tight when water was rough like you described, they changed that to a stainless clip those work better, to remove the seal you first loosen the accordian hose clamps and then push the stainless cup toward the rear of the boat to expose the clip or oring, pull the o ring toward the front of the boat or remove the clip depending on what your boat has, oil the shaft first because the stainless cup has orings in it also and they grab tight on a dry shaft, once the cup is released pull the jet pump off the boat remove the drive shaft remove the hose and seal parts, carefully inspect the hose for cracks if you have any replace the hose also, then replace the carbon seal usually the stainless piece is ok.

I looked for the rubber o ring and it is the steel clip. Could it be the rubber ones in the stanless part? Also is that steel clip supposed to inside the stanless part or in it supposed to be hlding it tight to the carben ring.

it goes under the cap , you only see it when you push the cap out of the way
