Default Ideal prop for an OMC 1958-1959 Evinrude Johnson 75hp model v4sl12s?

The boat has its original two blade propellor, and I am wondering if there is a more efficient propellor that will give me more speed and power?

Thanks in advance for your knowledge!

Props are not an exact science in my opinion. Need to know what you are pushing with the motor, what your current performance / RPM at WOT is and go from there. There are many other factors to consider. This is just a start.

In the first place, your motor is a 1960, worlds away from the 1958-59.

In the second place, it did not come from the factory with a two-blade prop. A two blade would be suitable for only a very few very light & fast boats. The motor was shipped from the factory with a 10 1/8 x 11 stock 3 bladed prop. That actually was too much for most boats. The 9 1/2 x 10 proved to be the best prop for the average 16-17' fiberglass family boat.

As said, and as you can see, there are hundreds of different combinations and situations, so there is no strict answer to the question. You have to match the prop to the boat, load, and what it is being used for.
