cannot get motor to idle down 1985 50 hp

1985 50 hp motor evinrude' idle's very high' spits through top carb'just got motor' air jets was missing' replaced with 36 000 jets' cleaned carbs but did not use new rebuild kits starts great''' how can I idle this down to normal rpm's ???

I think you need to completely rebuild the carbs.<br /><br />The high idle may be indicative of an air leak.

are you referring to an air leak in one of the gas lines to the the carbs
