On my previous 1966, I'd be adjusting points when #1 and #3 are not getting spark, while #2 and #4 are. On this 1973, I just can't imagine 2 coils going out at once or the power pack being so selective. Any ideas?

Hi John...welcome to iboats...

Well....yeah....a power pack can be that selective. But....ya need to check the input from the timer base to be sure. The timer base sets under the flywheel and has coils in it to fire the cylinders at the right time. Should read 2 to 5 volts to each cylinder on the power pack. Do ya' have a manual for the 73'? Should get one. Would make the troubleshooting a lot easier.

By the way...make sure the coil grounds are all secure to.

I have a Seloc manual with V4s 1973-1990. Thanks for a good place to start tomorrow morning. I want to be sure to have all the test equipment, as the nearest place (Advance Auto) with tools is 15 miles away, making running back and forth a little tiresome.
