Hello.
Motor died on me at the weekend and I can not get any power to my coil, therefor no spark.
Has anyone had this issue? Could it be the ignition coils?
I am at a loss.
Would appreciate any help.

Needs a power pack.

Nah, they didn't have power packs in 1961. However, they did have two very different types of ignition systems on the 75hp that year. You need to know which one you have before troubleshooting it.

The magneto system has the distributor cap with plug wires coming out the bottom. The battery ignition system has the distributor cap with plug wires coming out the sides.

My motor is Magneto but has the distributor cap on top with the cables coming out of its top. What could be stopping the coil from getting any power?

If you have the 1961 V4 75hp, and have the distributor type that has the cap on top of the unit with the spark plug wires leading from the sides of the cap...... you have the automotive ignition system, NOT a magneto.

With the key in the ON and START position, there should be voltage applied to the terminal on the back of the ignition switch mared either "I", "IGN", or "A" depending on what switch you have.

The wire attached to that terminal should lead to the small nut coil input terminal with its voltage. If it does not, find out why..... broken wire, bad connection, fauilty switch, whatever.
