i just landed myself a mid 80s 21 foot cuddy cruiser. all fiberglass with nothing but the hull. no floor, except for in the cabin. most of the stringers seem to be in decent shape, there are a few i need to remove and replace. this is my first boat so i am very new at this. i can rebuild cars old and new, motorcycles, and the like, so i am looking forward to this project. but i have a few questions. the boat does not have a floor. it was all removed. i can see where there seemed to be 2 seperate floors possibly. the side walls have two lines about 6 inches apart where i can see the fiblerglass that was rolled over the old floor and up the wall. after repairing the stingers, how should i go about replacing the floor? would i just use plywood then cover in in thick matting, and then paing it white? i have no idea what the inside of the boat used to look like so im almost working blind, but on the other hand it gives me freedom to use my imagination. my main concern is getting it right the first time. any suggestions?

Start searching photos of similar hull set-ups and get some ideas, then begin looking for huge carboard refrigerator like boxes and use the carboard for mock up templates easy to work with. The restoration section of the forum is a bottomless pit of information, start using the search options. don't get overwhelmed as there will be many highs and lows, sometimes just getting away from itfor a while can renew ambitions, in the end you'll have a unique one of a kind ride.

Unless you want to bring this boat back to 100% of its original condition you can do whatever you like. This might be a textured fiberglass floor so you can simply hose out the interior or carpet it if that's your desire. Floors are generally marine plywood and to make it last, glass it. You can even make custom side panels using foam and vinyl. It all depends on how handy you are and what you goal is.
