Hey everyone, newb here with a quick question. I have an 1989 Sylvan 188 Barritz with a 130 and an Alpha drive. There is a slight intermittant pinging noise coming from my outdrive at all engine speeds, but it lessons at idle. It sounds alot like spark knock or detination (that BBs on top of the pistons noise) but isn't in the engine. I just pulled the drive to see if my gimbal bearing was bad or the u-joints were shot and all appears fine. The bearing is well greased and feels smooth and the joints are tight and lubed. My gear lube was clean as well. Does anyone else have any thoughts? I did end up in the sand a couple of times last trip, is it possible there is something in my cooling system? Small pebbles or debri? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
