Hello, posted here in the outboard forums (Johnson & Suzuki) the last few seasons, found a wealth knowledge on both.

I changed jobs and hence emails, so I couldn't recover my account. And now I've moved on to the straight shafts.

I'm now running 2 1999 Seamax 350s (carbed) and the starboard is firing up, but stalling coming back down to 1200rmp.

It started doing that running to the winter dock end of last season. It had started backfiring the at the beginning (1st 5-10 mins @ speed) of the previous trip.

No problems w/ the port last year or now, she's humming.

Common fuel tank, w/ stabilized gas.

I changed filters and inboard spark plugs on both sides today and they appear to be in the same condition. Starboard still dying @ 1200+/-.

Heading back down Monday to tackle the outboard plugs and troubleshoot. My 1st thought is the choke is not opening. But any thoughts or insight someone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Fred

Howdy,

Well, you are asking the same question I would ask.
IS the choke opening (and staying open once it's warmed up)?

Try disconnecting it and /or wiring it open so it cannot close.

Also check the distributor advance. It's possible that the centrifugal advance springs/weights are not working....

Cheers,

Rick
