77 johnson 55 hp ignition problems

Started fine last yr after replacing old ign switch. I checked all wiring all grounds are good. also checked kill wire. No spark. Noticed stator had paint rubbed off in places. Can stator be repainted wth hi temp paint?

Thanks for the info. I checked res. on stator and sensor,they were fine. But I could'nt get volt reading when hooked to powerpack. Should i be getting a reading when switch is in "on" pos or do i need to turn over to get V reading?
