installing lower unit 5hp 03 2 cycle merc

I am looking for tips on getting the drive shaft spline to match up with the power head to re-install the lower unit after impeller replacement. I have tried twisting, turning, tapping, and lubricating and it still won't fit in. Any ideas welcome. Thanks, Malcolm.
PS... is there a spray-on to super cool the spline? Used to use freon but no longer can.

I too am in the same boat. The impeller repair took about 2 minutes, but I am dead in the water getting the lower unit back in place. If anyone knows how to get the drive shaft to line up, I sure would appreciate it.
