Hello, I have an older merc 500 thunderbolt and have been trying to replace the waterpump for some time now. I replaced the impeller and within seconds the new impeller melted ruining the impellr and housing. I had the hose hooked up to it so it should have been getting water. If anyone has any insight on this please help. And how do you install a new lower base? It seems to be a press fit and all i could find in the forums is that it just slides on, but mine will not. I cant even get the old one back in now.
