So I got a hold of a little boat with an Evinrude 1964 model 28402 outboard that just needs a bit of work done. My problem is they didn't have the manual and I'm at a loss as to how to wire it up.
I got the starter working, but that's about it. That means I figured out the hot wire goes to Battery on the ignition and the white solenoid wire goes to the unlabeled post on the ignition, and that lets it crank but we're not getting any spark, so we figure there's a grounding issue. But I have no idea what wire goes to the Ignition post on the ignition switch since it's possible the wire my dad had on there was incorrect. Anyone happen to have a wiring diagram of the motor? I've got a black, black w/ white strip and a gray wire hanging from under my dash and I have no idea what is what or where they're supposed to go.
We figure the motor won't spark because of a ground issue but I'm completely lost. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be glad to listen! I can post any pics anyone might need too.
This boat is a project boat so I can learn this stuff since I've NEVER dabbled in anything like this. But I was so excited when I got the starter working that I'm hooked!
