Yes--use plain hardened steel washers. Stainless is too soft and lock washers will chew up the aluminum. You can try getting them at Fastenal. The original washers were only about the size of the bolt head but I don't know if you can still get them.

I recently had my 89 force 150 rebuilt by stapleford marine and they didnt use any lock washers on any of the head bolts,but i would highly recommend locktite.

DONT USE LOCKTITE just a good quality washer .. you will never get it apart if u use locktite thats a huge no no on head bolts
