Hello all, first off, this is a great site, lots of great info!
I just recently got a new boat with the above motor, from day one there is a squeal coming from it that gets louder with the throttle. I am past the break in period and it seems to be getting worse. There is also a lag when going from idle to wot for a second, any ideas on what this can be? I am going to take it in for a post break in service but I am wondering if this is a merc thing.
Also, this is my first larger than 9.9hp engine, is it normal for the engine to click when going from full throttle to half or lower if needing to slow down quickly? It makes me nervous when I hear that sound so I try to avoid it but sometimes it can't be helped.
