Upon completion of splitting the case halves of my 1975 Model 200, 20hp outboard serial# 4105975, I found the lower rod/piston assy #2 ?, would not turn without binding on the crank, removed rod cap and found needle brgs have corrision but not signs of burnt/overheat damage to rod cap or crank and both bearing surfaces are not pitted, I feel they will clean up with emory cloth. Also the lower end main roller bearing has corrision damage, but has not spun on crank.

Any recommendation on this rebuild would be a great help, I will rebuild the carb and water pump, this is the 1st 2 cycle engine for me so any suggestion will be great..

Re: Lower rod/piston assy bearing damage

If the crank and rod clean up install new bearings, seals and rings. Run it in at 24 to 1 and hope for the best.
