Tight Steering??

Great site everyone. Very informative. I searched the archives, but didn't find any specific info on my motor.......I have an '89 Johnson 40hp outboard. The steering is tight. The steering cable moves freely when disconnected from the motor. The motor itself is physically difficult to turn. I greased the fittings at the top and bottom of the tube and saw some improvement. I never did get outflow of grease from the lower fitting though. My question.......Is there a tension adjustment nut on this model? I have been unable to locate one.

Thanks for your help,

Matthew

Re: Tight Steering??

I think you are in for some major dis-assembly to clean out the corrosion that is putting the squeeze on the bushings.
