I need idea's for getting a fuel tank out of a walkaround cuddy.. The tank is mid-rear floor in front of the engine, there is a bulkhead between tank and engine but you can touch the first 6-8 inches of the tank. the rest of the tank is under the floor.and between two more bulkheads one on each side. Solid floor over 80% of tank..what is the best way to remove tank short of removing the upper part of the boat(not practicle), cut open floor, or remove engine and back bulkhead are the only ways I see it being removed...Tank sprang a leak yesterday and started leaking gas into the bilge... had to siphon out 45-50 gallons...Leak appears to be low on tank...boat is an ocean boat in the past..Any idea's would be helpful before I cut a 3x3 hole in the floor...

Re: Fuel Tank access

Cutting open then re-glassing the floor is the only way I've ever seen a built in tank like that removed.

After talking with boat company I cut me a 40"x40" hole in the middle of my rear floor, cut with a sawsall, first made sure not cutting into wires or lines of any kind.Took about 30mminutes to cut it out and another 30 min. to get tank out... will be glassing it all back together this weekend .Wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be, but don't want to do it again for a while. Thanks to those who responded..
