I have a model #FDE11 (burgundy, elec start, pressurized fuel tank). It's reliable, always starts and runs. I always forget the oil/gas ratio and have used 50:1 & 35:1 but read recently that I should use 24:1... What do you suggest?

Also, the choke rod connects to a cannister that is about 1.5" diameter and 2" long with a rubber cap that the rod connects through. The bottom of the cannister has a disconnected wire... what is the wire and where should the other end connect?

What is the best way to clean the pressurized tank?

24 - 1 is correct for that motor, the canister is the remote choke, if you feed it with 12 volts it activates the choke.

I'm a dummy... doesn't my choke rod connect to the carb already? What do you mean it activates the choke? What difference will it make? Do I just connect the wire to the positive cable? (I have had this motor 15 years and just now discovered the unconnected wire....)

Thanks for the input.

it is the electric choke solenoid. no you have to have a push button, power from battery to button then wire from button to solenoid wire. are you using it as a tiller motor, or remote control.

To clarify, the choke knob on the motor will choke it from there. Or, you can choke it from a remote position (dashboard) with a button wired to that solenoid. Normally, both systems are operative.
