Motor ran fine when I left for a month I came back and now I turn the key and the motor seems to be running full throttle. I check the throttle cable on both sides( engine side seems to be perfect when I move from forward to reverse and nuetral.) Anyone have this problem or any idea. I just purchased this boat three months ago and I am still learning.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like possibly the syncro-linkage between the carbs is out. Disconnect the throttle cable and see if you can make it stick by moving the throttle by hand, if not disconnect the rod that goes to the carbs. Then try to make the carbs stick by hand, if they hang then adjust the joining rod so each butter fly opens at the same time. Also check to see that the return springs aren't broken or disconnected. Oil everything that moves with a light machine oil. If you run in salt water you should use a diluted anti-corrosion oil. Full strength maybe too thick to allow the linkage to work properly.

don't run until you find the problem, easy way to throw a rod. never over 1500 rpms in neutral. shifting above 800 will damage the gear case. OEM manual at outboardbooks.com
