I just picked up a 1957 Johnson Seahorse 7.5hp outboard. I was told that I should premix at 50:1. I also bought a Clymer service manual for this motor and it says that for 1956-1963 I should premix at a ratio of 24:1. Which is correct?

With todays oil I would go 32:1 maybe, I don't think I would go 50:1.

24:1 using 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil. I'm having good luck with Amsoil, but I expect any synthetic (TC-W3) oil will work just as good.
