Re: 1985 125 force dol-fins

If the fin is working correctly it will help the boat plane easier and stay on plane at lower power/speed.It may cause slightly lower top speed.
These fins can cause strange problems as well.Plowing, strange spray and handling.Assuming it is working correctly the boat will be slower to plane require more power to stay on plane and may bound around slightly more.
Any fin or trim tabs should be a last resort after carefully setting up your boat/motor combo.A propery set up boat could gain 2 or 3 mph more depending on where it is at now. There is no doubt that something like Smart Tabs will be much better than any fin.Let us know if you want to fine tune we'll give you some tips then you can make the decision if you want to try some tabs.

It's only 4 bolts---Take off the fins--an 18 foot cuddy with a 125 should not need them. Especially if you have power trim/tilt. If you find that you liked handling with them on, it only takes 10 minutes to put them back and usually you only need a 7/16 wrench and a screwdriver.
