"97 Evinrude 70hp (NO OIL LIGHT) - comes on and also beeps and then goes out. I check the resor., there's plenty of oil. Something to be worried about. Haven't had the boat out for almost 3 years, removed old gas, before starting, took right off, and seems to run just fine. I probably don't have 75/80 hours on the motor, paints not off the prop yet.

keep it up and you will burn it up. pull the oil hose at the fuel pump, and prime till you get oil and no air. if you don't put a new impeller in same thing.

I'm fighting this problem as well. I've checked to pump sure the pump is getting oil and it is. I used the method in the factory manual that says to fill a clear tube with oil hooked to the oil intake, then watch as the pump cycles to make sure it's working. I suspect the oil side of the pump is defective or leaking, toying with the possibility of going pump only and premixing. Let me know if you find a resolution.
