Dive shaft seems to be tight on 1965 9.5hp

I installed a lower unit seal kit as well as a new water pump impeller on a 9.5hp and the drive shaft seems to be tight when trying to rotate by hand. Is this normal after installing a new impeller? I soaped up the housing for lubrication before starting the motor. I haven't ran it yet as I am concerned about the friction. Thanks

It's not unusual. That new impeller has quite a bit of resistance, even with the lube. Fire it up, I say.
