I need some advice (again). I've got a 2000 Johnson 150hp carbed 2 stroke. When I bring the boat up on plane and reach about 3000RPM, the check engine alarm/light goes off. When I lower the throttle back to 1500-2000 rpm, the alarm shuts off. Even when the alarm is triggered, the motor is runs fine.
I know that the check engine alarm is a fuel restriction. I started with the usual suspects and changed the water separator/fuel filter, cleaned the fuel fulter on the motor, checked the pickup tune and anti-siphon valve, checked the fuel vent, and the bulb. There was no blockage found anywhere.
Any suggestions on what else could be causing this alarm to go off? Is it possibly just a bad sensor or maybe a fuel pump? I would think that if I was getting an actual fuel restriction, the boat would have a hard time getting up on plane and generally run rough at a high rpm....but its running great.
Any help would be appreciated....thanks!
