That is a 2-stroke, 3 cylinder motor. The first thing I would recommend is to get a service manual to help you troubleshoot the electrical system. If you post the serial number, I can confirm the year for you.

The black box (switchbox) can be tested with an ohm meter, to measure resistance. I don't have the procedure on hand at the moment.

One thing you might want to check is the mercury level switch that would be on the port side of the motor. It is essentially a 'kill' switch. Sometimes they get bumped, or the wires come loose. It would disable the spark to all three cylinders, and is designed to do that when the engine is tilted beyond its operating limit.

Did the motor work fine and then just quit suddenly while running, or was it in storage and simply would not re-start afterwards?

The factory service manual is best, but both Seloc and Clymer have manuals that are widely available at your local service center. Iboats sells them as well, of course Repair Manuals

Yes, it is listed as a 1994. Nice motor.

You may get lucky and just have a loose/intermittent electrical connection somewhere. The switchbox is expensive and well over $400 cdn to purchase. Rather than guess, it is best to follow a defined troubleshooting procedure to verify which component is malfunctioning. This is where a service manual will help.

I am not familiar enough with that model year to assist. I do not see a mercury switch in the exploded diagrams. It probably does not have one.

Hope it all works out for you.

Ok I have done trouble shooting with the manual (not the best of them ) but seam to have done the job

I have removed the """stator""" it seams like it is open circuit so on monday I will bring it to the marina and get it tested

at the same time will get the computer box
check-out also, now that every thing is
de-assemble I should get it all check out write ???

will keep you informed

P.S. to get to the "stator" it was a hell of a gob needed to fabricate a puller not easy but got it done.

Thank you
The Rock
