2001 mercury 125hp trim leaks down while running

i just bought a used 2001 ranger r73 with a merc 125 on it.took it for the first ride the other day and noticed while running the trim kept dropping.every once in awhile it would stay up but mostly it didnt.any ideas what it is is appreciated.

Crashdump,<br /><br />Welcome to iBoats.<br /><br />Check the oil level. If that's ok, then you have an internal leak. It's bypassing somewhere. Usually a bit of dirt under a valve or a leaking 'o'-ring.<br /><br />If you have a manual and the skills, you can tackle it yourself.<br /><br />Chris..........
