Plug JC-4, .030 gap, Set points at .020, this will take care of timing, compression, probably about 80-100#, idle 650-750 in gear.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Quick question - .020 on points.

Where is that measured? e.g., .020 gap(?) max when on cam (?)

Sorry, I'm a merc guy and most of theirs are set at just starting to open at certain distance in piston travel before TDC.

Re: '68 fastwin 18 parts info/timing request

Hi Team30,
Easiest way to set the points is with the fiber rider end of the point rocker aligned with the keyway of the cranksahft. .020" on the point gap will do it. I took the time to "time" an old 30hp Johnson once and noticed absolutely zero difference between that and when I simply set the points. Those OMCs are very forgiving on the set-up...

- Scott
