Default Ted Williams 7.5hp lower unit removal

I have a Sears Ted Williams 7.5hp model 217.59450 that I am trying to remove the lower unit to replace the impeller. I have removed the nut and the bolt but it will only drop maybe 1/4"

Sear's has crapy diagrams for that outboard but I could tell there was a shifting linkage that has to be disconnected, you should be able to disconnect the shift rod near the power head, follow your shifting lever to the point it connects to the the shifting rod.

I have the same questions as most - Have 7.5 Ted Williams, need impeller - sears doesnt have them. Anyone know where I get one, and also a diagram for the motor, so I can see how to take apart etc.

It appears the link mrcrabs provided exposes a small connector accessible through a small rectangular plate just above the lower unit. Mine has two slotted screws holding the cover plate in place. I found a connector just behind the plate. It took a 1/4" socket to remove the bolt holding the upper shiftrod and the lower shiftrod together. The lower unit dropped right off. Good luck.

Gary, most of those who post here will tell you to start your own thread. It complicates issues and confuses some. However they are always nice and answer your question. In following their lead I recommend you try these guys. I have not used them yet but have seen this link on more than one post here.
