    Default Ted Williams 7.5 hp problems starting

    i have an old 7.5 hp ted williams motor i've been trying to get started. When i try to start it with the gas tank connected it doesn't start. but when i try to start it with the gas just from the carb it starts up, but when we try to connect the gas once it's started it goes dead. The fuel ration i used was 40:1 and the model number is 217-58880. does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it?

    rebuild the carb, fuel pump is bad
