I have a firestone outboard with serial 487-408343, Code # 133-8-487, stock # 10-A -2. Can anyone tell me more info on this. Worth, H.P. year? Thank you.
1948, 3.6hp, Made by Scott-Atwater. Actually a pretty good motor if in good conditon. There are a lot of them around, so it probably isn't worth as much as you think. $0 for a junker to $100 for a nice running original with good cosmetics. Just my opinion, worth 2c. (2c for the opinion, that is.)
That 3.6 was also sold to several other brands as well. Firestone is just one of them. Sears Elgine used it very commonly during that period and up into the 60's. Finding parts shouldn't be real tough. There are Scott/McColloch enthusiasts with the AOMCI should you ever need sources for parts. There was a fellow back east that I dealt with several times and he helped me out. One time I bought a powerhead to a 3.6 and he even gave me a choice of color. LOL
