Default 1974 35 hp Montgomery wards sea king

    Hello everyone,
on my 1974 35 hp I checked the compression and my research tells me it should be between 95 to 105 psi, i am at 60 psi.
My first thoughts say piston rings but before i start taking it apart i would like some second thoughts. Is there anything else that could cause the low compression, or is my research wrong and the 95 to 105 psi off. Thanks for any help

    60 on both?
If your reading 60 on both then i'd suspect the guage is not reading right or your not taking it right.
Get a different screw in guage.Remove both plugs and ground out the plugs and install guage.
Turn over at least 5-6 times.
Still low, squirt some oil in the cylinders and take again.
With a good guage. It should read above 125#
Most Chryslers I've dealt with are closer to 145#-150#.(with a good guage).J

And that is why i wanted to ask before i made the mistake of taking it apart. Thank you very much i will look in to the gauge and make sure i am getting the readings right. I did not take both spark plugs out last time and did not ground them so i am sure i have bad readings. Thanks again and i will post my findings.
