Default 1948 12hp Sea King fuel mixture

Been through a slew of posts and couldn't find an answer for this motor. Owners Guide says to use a 4:1 mixture for the first four hours, then go to an 8:1 mixture. With today's oils, can this safely be reduced to a 24:1 ratio?

    Hi, Ed.

    Welcome to iboats.

I wouldn't go any leaner than 16:1 on that engine, Ed, and might try out the 8:1, but only with modern TC-W3 rated outboard oil.
