1986 supra sunsport exhaust manifolds and common problems !!!

hey guys just picked up a 86 supra sunsport with a pcm winsor 351 / velvet drive in it ..
it runs good and all , but i noticed the right side exhaust manifold has a small crack in it and leaks small drips , i was wondering if these can be welded ? im buying the gaskets and new bolt kit for it and wanted to have it welded why it was off .. also dropped in the lake this weekend and reverse is not engaging as it was working fine on thursday , fluid is at operating range as i checked with the trans warm ... just would love any kind of info regarding these boats and where i should shop for parts , i plan to do a cap off restoration this winter due to the interior being shot .. but any help its greatly appreciated!! kyle

I had my manifolds welded only to find that they had cracked on the inside too, water got into the cylinders and it hydrolocked on the lake. No fun. I would replace them, but they aren't cheap... Good luck

how bad was the crack though ? mine is on the rounded edge where it turns to the 4 chambers for the motor side

yeah lol i guess i see your point .. have you ever rebuilt a velvet drive ? i got a 1:1 and the reverse stopped working for some reason .. i wont engage at all .. I think im just going to buy some new manifolds .. do you think buying risers are a good idea too ? i mean there not leaking or anything and another thing why would my prop shaft squeal out of water ? is the packing lubed through the water ?
