Will my cobra outdrive fit a v8?

I have a cobra outdrive model#986032 4.3L will this work on a v8 if so would I have to change anything?

The gear ratio is what may be different. I can't remember for sure but i think the 4.3 and the 5.0 were different ratios.I know the 5.7 was different.

Someone will be along to tell you what gears fit what size engine...

Unfortunately it will require a gear change in the outdrive and its going to cost almost as much as a new drive to buy the parts and the labor to do it.

Your 4.3 final drive ratio is 1.68:1
5.0 final drive ratio is 1.59:1

The gearing is done through the upper section of the drive, the gears are the same in the lower sections.

I'll bet theres a ton of people that have done that swap, with the right prop you may get it in the peak opereating range, I don't know anyone that has first hand experience but I would do it if thats all I had.
