    Default Shifter Problems: 1989 Bayliner 1950 Capri Bowrider

    1989 Bayliner 1950 Capri Bowrider

    1. Engine year 1986, make GM, type 3.0L I/O, Full Model number: 302AMRGDP, and serial number: T1086467. Second sticker- Model number: 985268, serial number: T0608535

    2. Type and model of outdrive OMC 400 Model number: 985268 (vertical drive), serial number: T0608535

    3. When shifting from Netural into Forward gear it will not go in gear and sticks (hard to move back and forth) when trying to go back to netural. If shifted into reverse then into forward, it will sometimes engage. This does not happen all the time unless when you are shifting back and forth from forward then netural. Example: loading boat onto trailer or pulling up to dock.

    4. I have checked the lower fuild unit level and it is ok. Gear oil is clear.

    5. Shifter is stock: US Marine

    Yea, it can't be a stringer if it's an '89.
