1989 bayliner trying to replace impeller can't get lower unit to seperate. shift cable holding it on. can't get shift rod head to go low enough to turn away from guide pin .can't figure it out!any help thanks
You say you have the OMC cobra. It has a triangular cover on the back at the top of the drive. It is held on with 3 bolts.Remove the bolts and cover. The case inside you see is the impeller. Remove it and there the impeller is.
sorry for the stupid question guys thanks for the help. thanks for the help had a few older outboards. this is my first inboard bought a new impeler . was told by mechanic, was located in bottom end, describe to me how to take it off and told me it was simple. didnt want to purchase the book for 49 dollars couldnt get it apart and ended up buying the book. still thinking the impeler was in the bottom end. thanks for your answer it made me check further on how to change the impeler. now have impeler in place and have a heating problem. car mechanic trying to learn and save money and have fun on the lake. thanks again Gammer
