Default Question about Mercury Force 40 ELPT (1997)

New to boating so this is probably a stupid question. Does this motor have a built in alternator to charge the batteries while it's running?

It does have a charging system. Hopefully it is functioning properly.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you can either have a Mercury or a Force, not both and what you have is a Force. Read the BIG lettering. I know that Mercury Marine built them for a short time, but if it was the same as a Mercury, they would have dropped the Force name.
There are Mercury/Mariner outboards and then there are Force/Chrysler outboards. There is no such thing as a Mercury Force, yes Mercury Marine built them, but it's still the old Chysler engine with updated electronics and a better lower unit, NOTHING MORE..

How much horsepower can I have and still go to Heaven??

    1981 Glastron SSV194, MerCruiser 228hp (305 cid), 350 hours. Cuises at 3000 RPM / 30/31 MPH
