25 2 stroke: Yamaha vs Mercury SeaPro 2010, what are the differences?

Hi all,

I'm looking at near new 25 2 strokes manual tilt and pull start. What are the pros and cons of the Yamaha vs the Mercury SeaPro?

I can't find any decent information on the Merc, other than it is probably made by Tohatsu. Is the Merc really that much more robust than the Yamaha? It is claimed to be made for "commercial" work but I don't know if that's just fluff.

The sea pro has almost all stainless steel hardware on it instead of zinc.Also the merc is the old 25tohatsu and will leave the 25hp yamaha in the dust as far as power.As far as reliablility they are both excellent motors i just know that the merc has quite a bit more power as i have seen it myself.Go on you tube and punch in a 15hp 2stroke merc and there is a guy on there that beats a boat of equal size with a 25hp 2stroke yamaha on it.The guy has a yellow 10ft punt which is a little aluminum boat with a 15hp 2stroke merc on it and the other guy has a 12ft fiberglass with the 25hp 2stroke yamaha and gets beat at full speed so imagine what the 25merc would do.
