Default 2006 hondA TRADE 1998 mercury?

Hey guys I got a guy coming today to trade me for a 1998 mercury force 90 hp. tnt and controls and SS prop. For his 2006 40 hp 4stroke honda tnt and controls but stock prop. So my question is as a value stand point which is worth more.. my 90 or his 40.

I know they are completely different motors, but i got the 90 on a stand and dont have a boat and the boat i do get like a skiff I think the 2006 honda will work better and bring more value. Am i thinking right or is this a bad deal..

If the Honda is clean then its probably worth 3X what the Merc/Force is worth.

yea I was thinking the same thing, so I got on the NADA and looked at the average reatil value for the two. The honda was average retail of 2900 and the force merc was only 500? why so low because they are discontinued. And the mercury model of the 1998 90hp was average retail of 1500.
So hes on his way this evening to swap the motors so im going ahead with the trade. I think the honda will bring more value in the end

Nobody wants a Force. They have a few parts in common with Merc, but it's a low cost entry level motor.

I thought the late model force motors 1998- 1999 were almost all merc parts. Its looked almost identical the the mercury model, but I guess there were some major differences. Well the motor is gone now I traded for the 2006 honda 40hp 4 stroke. This thing is so quiet and cute, I dont think its for me but someone will buy it quickly
    heres the motor running
