wiring on ignition Mercury 35hp

I have wired a new ignition switch on . The engine will turn over now but will not crank. When I unhook battery it will crank and run by pull start. I only have the red wire(with inline fuse) and the yellow/red wire hooked up. What other wire will I hook up so this thing will fire? Its an 85 model. I don't have a mercury switch its just a 4 prong typical switch. batt./ign./acc/ I think i need a coil wire of some kind running to the ign. prong since it is hot while switch is on. just don't know what color. plz. help I appreciate any info!!

You might get a wiring diaghram at the maxrules.com web site. Normally motors of that era, due not use battery power to run the ign.

thanx I was wondering if there is a neutral safety switch and where it is located? I looked for my wiring diagram and was unable to find it. Any info would be gr8 !! thanx again

Neutral Safety Switch is usually in the Throttle Control box, for remote steering motors. Tiller models have it on the motor.
